Invite clients and neighbors to use leftover dumpster space.
While googling “referrals remodeling” looking for information about how builders and remodelers create “buzz” and referrals, I stumbled across a video clip about “Dumpster Day.”
This is one of those brain-dead-simple, wish-I’d-thought-of-it ideas. And it goes like this: Got extra space in your dumpster at the end of a project? Offer to let past customers and job site neighbors dump their unwanted stuff. For extra impact, send staff in trucks to pick up unwanted rubbish. This is a simple way to nurture clients, and reach out to the neighborhood.
I could also see parking a dumpster (preferably with a big sign “Trusted Remodelers”) in a parking lot (church, school or community center) and inviting folks to “fill ‘er up”. Or, you could provide a dumpster for the neighborhood yard sales and cleanup days – a final resting place for rummage sale remnants. While it’s tempting to riff on this concept longer, I’ll leave you to “dive in” to the dumpster day idea.
